  • Hey everyone, since the market system has been around there have been people who abuse and find new ways of abusing the system. I think it's time to start punishing people who actively do this and seek to harm other players' gameplay in the process.

My suggestion is that with screenshots like this (attached to my thread) we can report them in order to make the market place a cleaner pleace. While I understand that we have to be careful and pay attention these types of sales have only 1 end, and that is to scam people.

  • while i agree its very wrong and shitty for them to do this, its a free market and they can price their items whateever they want. If you buy something like that its because you didnt think twice before buying. Make sure you check every aspect of whatever you are buying.

No, it's not a matter of price it's a matter of exploiting the system and scamming people who think they are buying an item with full duration when it's just 1 min of it left. This is toxic behaviour and shitty attitude that can actually be prevented with reports and screenshots like mine in the first post.

  • why should he be punished if thats what he wants to sell it at? Again im not disagreeing, its very very shitty but when you put rules such as your suggestion, its not a free market and thus unfair.

Because it's with the intent to scam people. There's a difference between a free lawless market and a free regulated market. I am suggesting for the latter. This is no different from people who would put small amounts of gold and 1+ won to trick people into buying their stuff and that got fixed.

Just because it is free it doesn't mean it has to be without regulations.

  • It is not an abuse and it is not scamming either.

Abuse is when by doing a certain action you damage the other players or create for yourself an advantage. Such as when the list of the search shop was limited and people abused it with their prices, they got punished for that.

Scamming is when you offer an item and you sell a different one, such as showing off a sword with 5 bonus and selling the same sword with 5 different bonus.

In this case, you can scroll down to find more of these items and ignore those with 1 or 2 minutes, hence no abuse. Again in this case, all informations are at your disposal, all you need is to read, nobody fooled you previously by showing you a 2 hour pendant hence no scamming.

    It is called deceive.

If in the past you could somehow feel sorry for the buyer because he had to browse hundreds of shops and so he was in a rush to buy what he was looking for, this is no longer the case as you find what you are looking for in 1 click, so you can spend 10 more seconds to read the time of the items. Besides although very rare, one could simply insert a few minutes pendant by mistake as well.

Nobody gets banned for buying an item worth 10 wons at 10 golds, everybody agree that is the seller mistake, so the reverse is true as well. Everybody, seller and buyer must pay attention to what they sell/buy. Our job is not to babysit people that don't read, is to improve the game mechanics, such as a more friendly UI or systems that prevent such behaviours.

From how i see it we can only do a couple of changes:

    1) Do for these items the same thing we did for experience rings and thief gloves. Once they are in, they can't go out, unless you destroy them. This means you will only find two hours pendant on the market. Their value may go higher, but it would also mean that if you just want to do a pvp for 30 minutes, you are wasting 3 times the time.

    2) Add a red or any other strong color to the item name and description once the remaining time is 10 minutes or less. This will be done regardless as I believe it is helpful to know when an item is disappearing.

  • Literally the dictionary says Scam = to deceive. But yes whatever floats your boat. Obviously I do agree with you that it's not your job to babysit the players and of course you have to read but sometimes when you are playing a game you are not paying full attention. After all games are usually played to relax (at least for me).

Regarding the changes i believe that the second one would solve this issue.

  • Thanks for that extensive answer Shadow!

    I really like option 2.

Some people are probably just going to sell items with 10min left to bypass this, but for the buyer 10min is still better than 1.

Or is it possible to give items that don't have full time anymore a different color too?

Not sure which one you read but it literally says scam = fraud. As a matter of fact a scam is always a kind of deceive, but a deceive is not always a scam, like in this case. You could deceive your partner into thinking your loyal when you are not, it won't mean you scammed your partner.

I know people plays game to relax but you have to read one number not a whole page of a wall text. Add also the fact that this is a 15 years old game and it is certanly not the first time that someone put a timed item on the verge of expiration on the market.

    Kentra

Yes it is possible but longer to do it, while setting a color for every timed item that have 600 seconds or less is a matter of few minutes.

  • Merriam-webster's online dictionary, Cambridge, etc. Pick your poison. Nevertheless, what is up for question is not the definition but the ingame action that is occurring and you have already answered with a possible solution.

It's a 15 year old game indeed but for me it was the first time seeing an exploited timed item believe it or not.

This is nowhere near of a new "trick" it happens since the very start of the game and has absolutely nothing to do with the Shopsearch system, just like some people used to make a full shop with 45x the same item and 2-3 of them have a 0 more at the end.

The second of those is completely gone due to the Shopsearch system, the first only requires you to read a little bit as Shadow said.

  • Yeah absolutely. this has been happening for a very long time. I dont mean to sound round but you just need to pay attention to what you are buying. Also i like option 2 from shadow's suggestion. Really dislike option 1.
